“Nouran was a great competition and I enjoyed playing with her after such a long time. I am very happy to win the circuit in front of the home crowd, and the fact that this is my first tour title of the year, it is all the more special,” said the jubilant 23-year-old squash star from Chennai.
In the men’s draw, Sandhu made a remarkable comeback in the first game and sealed the result in his favour by pipping Egypt’s Shehab Essam Hosny 11-9, 11-7, 11-7 in 50 minutes.
The 25-year-old scored the first point in the opening game but soon trailed 7-1. Sandhu clawed his way back to win the first game 11-9 thanks to some quick reactions and eventually emerged victorious to lift the title.
