Ex-minister joins Congress

Exminister joins Congress Former Jharkhand minister Dulal Bhuyan today joined the Congress, two days after he announced that he would return to Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM).

AICC secretary Tara Chand Bhagora, former MPs Subodh Kant Sahay and Furkan Ansari were present at the Congress Bhavan to welcome Bhuyan, who had joined the BJP from Babulal Marandi’s Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM) in August this year.

On Monday, Bhuyan had announced to re-join the JMM, in which he had been the MLA from 1995 to 2009, but he did not turn up yesterday at a joining ceremony organised by the JMM and attended by party supremo Shibu Soren.

A member in erstwhile Shibu Soren and Madhu Koda governments, Bhuyan left the JMM and joined JVM ahead of 2009 assembly elections.

In another defection, AJSU party MLA Naveen Jaiswal joined the Jharkhand Vikas Morcha in the presence of its head and former chief minister Babulal Marandi.

“Naveen Jaiswal joined the party in the presence of party chief,” JVM spokesman Saroj Singh said.

Asked whether the party has announced any seat for him, he said the party would announce on November 9.

Jaiswal won the Hatia seat on AJSU party ticket in the last polls and quit the party after it conceded the seat to the BJP as per an understanding over seat sharing between the two parties in the forthcoming state elections.

“AJSU compromised the Hatia seat. After taking the opinion of my supporters, I joined the JVM,” Jaiswal said and expressed optimism that he would be allotted the Hatia seat by Marandi.
