With the Blessings and as per Orders of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu AMMA, The Tamilnadu Handloom Weavers Cooperative Society popularly known as CO-OPTEX has organized an Exhibition Cum Sales of Handloom Clothes at Old Tamil Nadu House, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi for 15 days from 15.10.2015 to 01.11.2015 as a part of “Deepavali Festival 2015”.
Dr.M.Thambidurai, Hon’ble Deputy Speaker of Lok Sabha, has inaugurated “CO-OPTEX SILK SAREES EXHIBITION-CUM-SALE”, Tmt S.Gokula Indira, B.A.,B.L., Hon’ble Minister for Handlooms & Textiles, Government of Tamil Nadu has distributed the prizes of Gold Coins to the winners of the Thanga Mazhai Thittam and also commenced the First Sale.
Thiru S.T.K.Jakkaiyan, B.A.,B.L., Special Representative to Government of Tamil Nadu at New Delhi, Thiru Harmander Singh, I.A.S., Principal Secretary to Government, Handlooms, Handicrafts, Textiles and Khadi Department, Thiru Jasbir Singh Bajaj, I.A.S., Principal Resident Commissioner, Tamil Nadu House, New Delhi have felicitated the function. Thiru K.V. Manoharan, President, Co-optex and Thiru T.N.Venkatesh, I.A.S., Managing Director of Co-optex and other officials participated in the function.
The newly designed silk sarees procured from Kanchipuram, Arni, Salem & Coimbatore areas are on display in the Exhibition. The Government of Tamilnadu have extended a rebate of 30 % on all the Silk Sarees displayed at the exhibition and this rebate will be available for the whole period of exhibition cum sale.
In order to improve the living standard of the weavers, to market the new designs, to improve the cash purchase and to attract new customers, co-optex has introduced “Thanga Mazhai Thittam” between 15.09.2015 to 31.01.2016. Under this scheme for every purchase of Rs.2000/- one contest coupon will be issued. The winners are selected based on their best answer. Nationwide, 110 special prizes of 4 grams of gold coin each and 330 consolation prizes of 2 grams of gold coin each, in total 1.100 Kilo gram of gold coin would be issued for customers through the 11 Regions.
In Delhi, 10 custememers won the prize. Out of the ten contest winners, two customers won the 1st prize of 4 grams of gold and the remaining eight customers won consolation prize of 2 grams of gold. The contest winners were awarded and distributed with the prize during this Exhibition-cum-sale.
After the Exhibition, Hon’ble Minister for Handlooms and Textiles reviewed the Sales performance of the Show rooms of the Region viz, Pudupavu Co-optex Show Room, Connaught Place, Bala Co-optex Show Room, Khan Market, Co-optex Show room, Dwarka, and Co-optex Show Room, Karol Bagh, New Delhi. The Managers of the Show rooms and Regional Manager and Mumbai attended the meeting. They were adviced to improve the sales during ensuing Deepavali, Christmas, New Year and Pongal festivals.
