Two major regional parties Trinamool Congress from West Bengal and AIADMK from Tamil Nadu were not represented in the all-meeting called by the Government today to discuss the issues before the Monsoon session of Parliament which begins tomorrow.
The AITC could not participate in the meeting as the party was holding its meeting in Kolkata while AIADMK did not send its leader to attend the meeting without any information. “Derek O’Brien (AITC MP) informed me that there is a meeting of his party in Kolkata. AIADMK did not inform,” Parliamentary Affairs M Venkaiah Naidu said, when asked about the absence of the two parties.
The absence of the two parties assume significance as not only the AITC and AIADMK were among the vocal voice in the House but they have been lending critical issue based support to the government in the Rajya Sabha, where the ruling NDA is in minority.
